My name is Kristi Bane, I was born and raised in Kansas but have lived in Canada since 2002. I’m a mother of three, and Nana to two awesome boys.

I have a bachelor of science degree from Washburn University located in Topeka Kansas. I attended Kansas State University, to obtain my degree in veterinary medicine.

After university, my kids told me, “Mom it’s time to get a job”. So, my first job was in Gilbert, Arizona at a small animal practice. After 4 ½ years I moved to Boise, Idaho to be closer to my family. In 2002, I moved with my youngest daughter to Squamish, British Columbia. Canada has been my home ever since. I just completed 3 years in Whitehorse Yukon and arrived in Corner Brook at Humber Valley Veterinary Clinic July 2013.

My experience in veterinary medicine has been in small animal practice, mainly dogs and cats. I have an interest in medicine, nutrition, and surgery. I have also taught at community college and university. I try to teach and learn every day.

Recently I expanded my qualifications to include a Certificate of Training that allows me to support owners through their pet loss bereavement process. This certificate was awarded after intensive on-line class work through the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement, Inc. I am available for private grief support sessions.

I strive to have great communication and conversation with owners, to achieve the best possible care for my patients.

In addition to being a veterinarian, I have many other interests. I’ll give most outdoor activities a try! I spend a lot of time at the gym, running trails, snow shoeing and occasionally sit still long enough to read a great book. I have embraced living close to Blow-Me-Down Park and Gros Morne and I find myself there most weekends.
